About my city  22nd Mar '06 4:44 PM

I live in the suburb of St.Petersburg, Russia. I’m keen on St.Petersburg because it is very beautiful and a little bit of a romantic city. There is a lot of breathtaking scenery in our city: palaces, Hermitage, historic buildings and picturesque landscapes with fountains and statues. Our city is worth seeing!!! And, of course, you need to visit our museams, theatres.
But this city is sometimes too dynamic and too lively for me. That’s why I love our quiet and small village. There are a lot of green trees and flowers in our village, a field and a lake near it too. The best way is to live in the suburb and to study and work in the city. The only problem is to wake up early in the morning because you need to go to the city.

Your city sounds beautiful Lena. I am hoping to see it this summer. Robert told me that it is great in July. I also live in the suburbs of a large city. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. USA
Though is doesn't take long to get to the city from where I am. Almost everyone in the United States owns and drives a car. I live about 45 km from the city and it only takes about 30 minutes to get there.

I really didn't see any mistakes in what you wrote. In fact I probably should check what I write very carefully so I will not look bad. I am supposed to be a teacher (Not really, but don't tell anyone). I think people will read what your wrote about your city and want to see it for themselves.

I will be leaving for Oktyabrsky in a couple weeks if all goes well. Maybe I should plan a stop in St Petersburg on my way. Please write more.

I knew I show have checked for mistakes. I can see two of them in my own post. Darlin, I think you should be correcting us.
Native English speaking people tend to over look our own mistakes. More so, the people that spend a lot of time on the computer and internet. People on the internet usually read fast and skip over mistakes. It becomes more important to get your idea across quickly than it does to get the spelling correct.

 You know I love St. Petersburg :) 22nd Mar '06 6:59 PM

I'd only make two corrections:

I live in A suburb (there are lots, not just one

and:

museams, theatres -> museUms and theatres (end a list in English with 'and' before the last item, even if there are only two things in the list).

But those aren't very serious mistakes.

Very good! Hey, if I didn't already live here your description would make me want to come and visit

I know what you mean about it being too busy and loud - I come from a small, quiet island with a population of 3000, so it's nice to get away from the city sometimes.

I'm off to Finland on Sunday, going to teach in Savonlinna for a week. It's VERY quiet there!

Wow, that's very impressive. Really excellent - only 2 very small mistakes. Keep on practising

I was in St Petersburg in November and I hope to visit again this July. Maybe I'll see you there? I agree it is a wonderful, beautiful city. I went to the Hermitage and was completely in awe of it. The other things I like about StP are the lovely Japanese restaurants and the Metro - it's so easy to explore the city.

A room full of English Teachers and no one pointed out how to spell "museum"... LOL.

Still a good write though. I sent an email with some suggestions. I also have a full edit on MSWORD if the author cares for it.

Keep up the good work.

So Bob, are you saying there is more than one way to spell museum in English (I wouldn't be surprised if there were) or, are you agreeing? If the British spell museum one way, and Americans spell it another way, it could be very confusing for those English students with teachers of different nationalities. An interesting problem. I suppose there should be some agreement on a single, accepted spelling for such words.
