 I'm back  7th Aug '08 1:53 AM

Hello again ) I've not visiting the site in a long time, but I've thought of another question to ask )
For married teachers wishing to teach in Russia, are they allowed to bring their spouse? How does that work?

Lovely to have you back

Yes, but the spouse must pass quarantine and should have vaccination certificates, etc. etc.

De-clawing is also mandatory

Seriously though, Lena, we need more info to help. Nationalities would be a good start, who's teaching, who's spousing, etc.

Thank you kindly for the replies. Well, let us say that I, an American, would move to Russia to teach, and my husband, also an American, would tag along.
I wonder how that would work out in terms of housing....assuming that I would want to accept the flat that the school would provide me with. I know they usually put two teachers together in one flat. So I wonder whether they would put just me and my husband in a flat, or if we would have to find our own flat, one that is not provided by the school. Also, what about a visa for my husband? How does that work?
Is that enough questions for you? You all seem so knowledgable, I figure you guys are the best people to ask

With the greatest respect, Lena, these are not really questions that we are able to answer here as there is no Russian government statute about whether husbands can be allowed to live in a flat with their wives I would advise you to find some schools who might offer you work and ask them directly.

Regarding the question of a visa for your husband, it works by you contacting a Russian embassy to get visa information specifically relevant to your individual cases.

Hope this helps

Hi Folks,

Unless the hubby was teaching, isn't a business visa the only thing he could get?
Wouldn't that put him in the 90 days in/ 90 days out routine?
If a school could be persuaded to issue two work visas, it might be possible.
Some schools do offer non-shared housing. But, you might be someplace outside of Moscow, etc. That happened to me in Balashikha.
Good luck!

I think she may have taken the hump at me confusing 'spouse' with 'spaniel'...
