Note to nutcases  11th May '08 8:15 PM

This is not aimed at anyone in particular, just at a general, small group of annoying people that have been getting up my nose lately (teachers and schools included) and taking some liberties.

VisaRus is is not a company, an organisation or anything. It is (I am) not contractually obliged to provide help, advice, information, work, introductions, willy-holding or whatever.

I have a full-time job that barely leaves me time for myself, my friends, girlfriend, etc. I do go out of my way to help people that have *difficult* problems, or that contribute in some way to the general effort of the site.

I have bad days, I have good days. I get innundated by silly requests for information and advice that is already on the site. PMs and emails get lost, drowned and, sometimes, ignored.

If you are a school and you want to 'discuss something', make it clear exactly what you want before bending my ear about a pile of nonsense for two hours and wasting my working day. You either call me or come to me at your own time and expense.

If you are one of those 'teachers' that just wants to use the resources and erase all trace of yourself (i.e. never contribute anything at all to the site and not even let anyone know you've ever been here) - get off the site and go to eslcafe.

If you insist on PM-ing me with simple questions that should go into the forum (or that are already there), don't be surprised if you don't get a reply.

If you just want my undivided attention, you'll only get it if you're a tall, blonde female with no intention of marriage.

If you think this is harsh and unprofessional, ask yourself "Why?" I'm not here to be professional, running this site is not a profession, nobody pays me to do it, it doesn't make me a living. Somehow people have come to the mistaken conclusion that this site is just an obligatory part of the internet. Customer service is not an issue here, unless you are a customer.

If you've bought the teaching guide - please mention that when you ask for help. Quite often I end up spending all the 8 euros and 50 cents that reaches my bank account on phone calls providing advice anyway.

If you don't like my attitude, go and bask in the warm, friendly glow emanating from our friends round the corner!

In case anyone wonders where the rant came from (I'm almost sure nobody does ), I'm on a stinky train to stinky Moscow again, and not for particularly enjoyable reasons

Expect more bile and possibly some bites of humour from yours truly as the farce unfolds over the next couple of days

 apologies 12th May '08 1:42 PM

Yes,you are quite right and deserve apologies. However, you are our contact in Russia,Petersburg notably and in hoping to go there some people, such as myself will clutch at straws and ask you even the most terrible questions. But maybe some good news.it does look like i will definately be in Petersburg by september and maybe I can help ease the load somehow.Be warned however-I,m a boring 48 year old londoner a Fulham supporter and a Practising Orthodox beliver-not a yank fundamentalist however. No offence to our good american brethren!

God, no! Somebody get me away from here. Another Oklahoma Cowboy? On a lighter note, I am on my way back from Moscow in a first-class train coupe. On a darker note, it's a first-class coupe full of Russian equivalents of Hyacinth Buckets that refuse to believe I can hear the buzzing from the screen of the shitty little TV on the shelf above my head. 'We can't hear it, so you must be crazy'.

Wait til I take my shoes off. 'Well I can't smell anything, so YOU all must be crazy'.

Typical stupid ignorant attitude - whatever the majority says is right.

On another note, we don't need any more 'teachers' of English that can't spell, our quota is full for this millenium.

Sorry folks, but whether you think you rely on me for something or not, I have the right to decline selectively!

Please keep football and religion off the site and stop posting gibberish on the forum in general.

I don't appreciate such atrocious grammar, spelling and punctuation here - it damages the credibility of the site. If your forum posts reflect your command of English, please don't come to teach in Russia.

There is no 'a' in 'definitely', apostrophes go above the line, not below, and it's generally accepted to use spaces between words and after commas and full stops. I don't care how many degrees you have, it has no bearing on your aptitude or ability to teach English properly. As for the cocky reply regarding football and religion - that's a site ban. Don't come back.

Very odd!The errors are genuinely due to bad typing skills like typing too quickly and being unsure of how to use the keyboard correctly rather than poor English skills.Sorry if talking football or religion is against the rules-this won,t happen again. However, maybe I really don,t understand what the site is truly for so it would be better not to use again for practice purposes but merely to scan and see if there is anything of personal interest without contributing anything.

In my opinion the site is for 'aving a laaaarffff..... and for helping people with genuine, sensible enquiries about teaching and other related matters in Russia (where information can't already be found on the site, of course).

It's also for exchanging news, views and knowledge about same...

Do I win £5?

(Ermmmmmm..... an' for practising my typing skills - but don't tell bobs12...)

I love the new image, most becoming indeed! I find it hard to comprehend that someone can be quite so odd. Not you, of course - that's all understandable

The avatar is just a variation on a theme.

I become even more odd after I have consumed a few pints (sorry, nul-pyats) of good BEER, as I hope that we shall do next Sunday (the 18th of May), bobs12.

Anyone else interested?

Just PM me if you are

Meh, senile old woman downstairs is insisting that I am flooding her apartment. I think she's seeing things - there are old stains from 30 years of disrepair and old leaks all over the place (it's the same old wifey that I had to extricate from the place nearly 2 years ago on my birthday) - so now she seems certain that she's being flooded constantly!

They just keep on coming!

Perchance you are unknowingly incontinent?

No takers so far on the BEERFEST invite - so perhaps the Peterburgers have self-adjudged themselves?

Or perhaps a Sunday out with the "Bob's and Stocker's Show" is just too much, it being on the (Christian) Sabbath? (Ho! Ho!.... There's no descrimination here )

Anyway, I will PM you with the meeting arrangements...

Beer was had, or rather a strange milkshake was had. I have ruled out incontinence, bad aim, etc. so if my own plumbing is in order there must be another problem!
