Has anybody used the Enterprise course books and what do you think of them. I hate it!

Yep, pretty sure I use them a couple of years ago & they were absolutely dismal.

If you can't change the coursebook, grin and bear it & just put in lots of supplementary excercises... i.e. enough so that you don't have to open the book for the whole lesson

Yeah - they're pretty grim - I used them when I first came to St-Pee years ago... The series is mainly popular with the 'cheaper schools', as far as I know...

Schnork - Maybe you might even be teaching at the very same school with whom I initially graced my presence?!

As bobs12 suggests - just grin and bear it and fire up the photocopier - but I suspect that the usage of that is covertly (but nonethe less closely) monitored as well !!

Yes! They're the very ones!! Dunno what their rates are now - but a few years ago it was a running joke about how Natalia (is she still there?) could manage to get people to work for so little.... I am sure it must be different now, though....

Are they still frantically beating the drum about being the longest-established school in SPB? I worked for them in some really beat-up schoolrooms rented from mainstream schools for the evening...

I also once taught in their offices in the director's office and plugged the tape recorder in and the plug socket flew off the wall and whizzed passed my ear, simultaneous to all the lights and, obviously, electric going off... We had an hour to go of the class and with the outside temp at -20, the lesson was completed with swiftly-donned hats, coats and gloves....

(Watch out for the staffroom back-stabbing and the blatant, to-your-face lying which may still abound there....)

Good ole CLS.... )

Well I never had any problems at CLS. They paid little but I didn't expect to paid top wages being as green as i was, they paid on time anyway. I am off for the summer now so am working somewhere else, at a better place.

A long-lost thread revived!

I never said that they didn't pay on time or didn't pay at all...

Even directors of other Russian schools told me that they used to marvel at how little CLS could get people to work for... (But I am sure you got more.....)

I worked for them (for a short time but it gave me a start) for $5 per ak. hour about 6 years ago...

Then I met a guy about 4 years ago who told me they were paying him $10/ak. hour - so now, (by extrapolation), it must be about $40 or more...

Seems fair to me.....

Random Quote by Albert Einstein
"The point is to develop the childlike inclination for play and the childlike desire for recognition and to guide the child over to important fields for society. Such a school demands from the teacher that he be a kind of artist in his province."
