TEFL Guide to Russia on sale now :) Support VisaRus 2nd Jun '07 1:34 PM

Hi folks!

EFL Teacher's Guide to Russia

This has been over a year in the pipeline, but I've finally finished writing my e-book about teaching in Russia.

It's not a 'story', it's a guide for anyone interested in teaching in Russia. It's largely based on the VisaRus website itself, but written more like a 'how-to' guide with a few personal accounts from teachers in Russia explaining how they got here and how they progressed up the teaching ladder.

It also includes some classroom advice for those new to teaching, or just new to teaching Russians.

The best part is a detailed guide to finding work - possibly the most valuable advice in the book. It's all aimed at people who are not yet working in Russia and looking for some reassurance and guidance.

Proceeds from the sale of the book go towards the maintenance and improvement of VisaRus, so go on, buy it! It's only ten euros.

You can pay in any currency you want once you pass checkout and get to the payment site - the flags at the top of the screen change the currency.

Link to buy the book: http://public.interlingua.co.uk/item/97.html#EFL+Teaching+guide+to+Russia

If you have any problems with payment or downloading, please get in touch with me by PM or by emailing robert.leitch[a]gmail.com

Your comments on the book will be appreciated, write them below if you wish!

I really did enjoy this book. It gives you reassurance along with many interesting tips on how to get your feet wet in Russia. Whether it's worth 10 euros is debatable but I will certainly be using it as a guide for when I finally cross the pond and enter in the unkown.

TEFL Guide to Russia -Great wee e-book. Wealth of useful information there for people new to TEFL or even if you have been in the business a few centuries and are deciding to come to Russia you'll find a lot of valuable firsthand knowledge.

Top notch

I found this very useful. As I have visited Russia a few times, teach English as a foreign language (but not in Russia) and have researched the Russian forum on Dave's ESLcafe, I was impressed to find that not only did the book triangulate well with the knowledge I already possessed, but there were plenty of valuable tips and approaches to teaching and living in Russia. It is also logically structured, so that you can dip back in, even if you do read in a single sitting in the first place. It's also well-written. With regards to questions about whether or not it's worth the money, I'd make two points. If you're really only slightly interested in going to Russia to teach, then sure, get your advice for free on Dave's forum, for example. But if you're fairly serious about it, then the in-depth advice is worth the low price asked. Also, of course, if only one of the tips saves a lot of money or misery, then the investment is an even better bet. Also, I found that the information is up to date; e.g. case studies are from within the last three years, with references to even more recent events. Even if keeping Visarus going doesn't appeal, self-interest makes it worth getting.
