About vacancies offered in newsletters  14th Sep '06 9:29 PM

Folks,

I don't mean to be harsh, but there are some people out there claiming to be English teachers when they can neither read nor write, nor claim to have an ounce of common sense.

I send out a newsletter to almost 600 people with a vacancy, stating 'only apply if you're in St. Petersburg and can be available for interview next week'.

I get replies immediately. One says:
I would like to join as a teacher at the school at St Peeter's Berg. Here with I attach my C.V to you.
with 'Teacher at St. Peetersberg school' as the subject instead of the required 'PRIMORSKAYA' that filters it into the right mailbox.

Another sends a cv with the classic:
Hi

I am just wondering about this vacancy. I am now in India, but would love to be there and work as a teacher.
Did I say this vacancy was open to people thousands of miles from Saint Peeter's Berg?! What response does someone expect if they are 'just wondering' about the vacancy?! Don't waste time attaching your CV to an email if you're just dreaming, dammit!

Okay, steam vented. I'll delete this later and put Evelyn's book post (a far more appropriate and constructive use of the forum) back where it belongs

This is a DELETE ME reminder for Bobs12.

Still, I agree. But that will happen anytime you send a mass mailing.
Reply to each that they will need certain 'qualificators' and will need to be in the office for interview before 8:30 am Saturday morning (tomorrow).
If they are searching for any other work...well, the same quailifications are required (worthless or not) and they should plan to arrive in Saint Peeeeeet's Fortress/Burg in the next week to one month and are responsible for their own flights and accomidation arrangements.

Yeah....it's just a service and simple to provide.

Your other choice: I'm sorry, we are looking for certified and local candidates only at this time. Feel free to view our school listings or job board (with appropriate links) for future opportunities.

(See...I just practice politics, but never studied.)
