Viewing topic: Russian Headlines

Hey guys, I thought that as a way to practice Russian, I would try to translate some of the headlines from ������.�� a couple of times a week. Any help much appreciated!

� �������� �������� �-320 ����� ������.

The crashes of the A-320 areoplanes are blamed on the pilots.

������� "����������":"�� ���, ������, ������� ���� ���� ����?"

*something* "*something*": "Now that Andrei helped you with your *something*?"

��������� �����: ��������� ��������� - ����������� ��� ������!

Alexander Dugin: Nationalism *something* - *something* for Russia!

Any thoughts on weather this is a good idea for learning Russian? Don't want to learn bad habits or anything.

Oh and by the way...is pravda.ru a good source of information about Russian current events? I don't undestand much Russian at the moment, but it strikes me as kind of trashy for some reason.

Good way of keeping your Russian going as long as you get someone to check your translation! So, I'll give it a try -

� �������� �������� �-320 ����� ������.

"Pilot blamed for A-320 crash" - there's only one plane and one pilot. Plane here is in the genitive (crash of the plane) and the pilot is in the animate accusative (hence the -a on the end). Shame, as he's probably dead, but that makes no difference in Russian!

������� "����������":"�� ���, ������, ������� ���� ���� ����?"

No idea what '����������' is! �� ��� is like, 'well' or 'so' - something like 'So, Andrei - did your Poles (��� - outdated form meaning 'Polish person') help you?

Thanks mate. I'm still trying to get my head around all the different cases and their endings, and what they actually mean. Feels like I'll never get there!

Don't give up! Once you have the case system under control, you're 90% of the way there. The rest is just some exceptions & vocabulary

By the way, if anyone else has better/different versions of the translations, feel free to jump in! My Russian's not 100% either

Should have added - ����� = tape, band, diminutive �������� = 'small band', i.e. ribbon.

���������� = tied, from ��������, perfective of 'to bind, to tie'. imperfective ����������

��������*��* -> plural

�������*��* -> instrumental, indicating 'with' or 'by'

������ � �������� - �������� ����� ��������

Something about a summit in Vilnuse and a theatre?

������ ���� �� ����. �� � ������� - ����.

I get the feeling their may be some colloquialisms in here. Does it mean something like "Victory alone above everything. But in everyone's own way"???

"Vilnius summit - *some kind of* puppet theatre" - taking the mickey I reckon

"One victory for all. But each has his own" - I guess meaning even though there is one 'victory', each has his own experience of it.
