inlingua & Interlingua schools in Moscow  24th Apr '06 11:16 AM

This is to acknowledge with thanks your letter for the position of an ESL teacher in Moscow, Russia.

Kindly provide us with the following information:

· Your passport details (a scanned photo page)

· Your CV and references

· Please fill out our application form that you can find on

www.inlingua.ru

After receiving this response back from them I wondered how great of a school they are.
I dont have my passport yet so I cant send them a copy at the moment.
I'm guessing this is quite typical for most schools to send this type of information in regards to employment.
But, my question is has anyone heard of this school before are they legit?
Glancing at their website, I noticed they are geared towards the business world or so it seems.

There is another school with a name very much like theirs

www.reading.ru

Interlingua is the name and the rates they charge are:

PRICING

Fee per instructor class-hour of English language

for individual instruction

$30 per 90 min.

for group instruction (2 - 6 students)

$35 per 90 min.

Fairly standard kind of cut 'n' paste reply. Ask them what they want to do with your passport page though Probably just in case they decide to get you a visa, or they want to see your face.

Don't know anything about the schools, but I think they've been around a while.

Interesting about what they're charging students - I'm in St. Petersburg and I generally charge the same or a little higher, so I wonder what they plan paying you? Now that would be interesting reading

Of course, every school has to make a profit to run & provide classrooms, maintenance, materials etc. but there are some that really take the mickey.

Freelancing seems to be getting a better option all the time. Get a certificate, put some experience behind you in a decent school, get as many lessons observed and as much constructive feedback from experienced teachers as you can then go it alone!
