About supporting the site 16th Apr '06 2:50 PM
Hi folks, some of you may have noticed weird stuff going on in the forum, including but not limited to links to topics on the index page that don't show up in the forum.
The reason is that these are topics posted in forums for other countries (mostly by me, to test things out) that are to be served by http://esl.visarus.co.uk - for the time being they'll pop up now and again on the main forums page.
Don't worry; VisaRus will remain the main site for Russia. But things have to keep moving in order to stay on top, and pretty soon I hope to have a couple of new sites up and running for other countries that I'm interested in.
At the moment these are Slovenia, the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) and the former Yugoslavia.
While these countries should eventually get their own domains and their own individual sites, they'll be served by esl.visarus.co.uk for the time being.
For now it would be great if you could contribute anything to other countries where you've worked.
----------------------------------------------------------
************ PenPals **************
esl.visarus.co.uk has some improvements on the penpals theme. Although we haven't had an awful lot of people using the penpals feature here, those who are using it have made contacts and friends. Some have found people to hang out with when they arrive in Russia, some have found friends already in the country.
esl.visarus.co.uk allows you to post your penpals ad under a specific country, either where you come from or where you want to make friends or contacts.
************ School Directories ************
Predictably, the main focus of the new sites is to provide lists of schools and to help people find work. I like to think that the difference between the VisaRus directories and other school-list sites is that the information is much easier to find on VR. Well, I know where it is anyway
Right now I really need your help - please take a moment to visit the new site and give me some constructive feedback.
It's not 100% complete (will it ever be?) and some things might not work quite as they should, but I need you to tell me if you find something wrong.
I'd really appreciate suggestions for schools to include in the directories. Reviews and ratings are literally a couple of days from being ready for trial. Your participation would be greatly valued.
************* Jobs **************
The jobs section of this site is, for some reason I can't fathom, sorely underused. Hopefully the new site will breathe life into the whole affair.
If you know or work in any schools that might be interested in signing up to try out the new system, feel free to invite them! ___________________________________________________ I demand a shrubbery.
